CACVT runs on a two-year certification cycle and requires that ALL CVTs submit a Certification Renewal Application and Continuing Education in June of even years.

Become a CVT

A Certified Veterinary Technician:

Graduates from an AVMA Accredited Veterinary Technology Program
Passes the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE)
Registers with the state’s credentialing entity
Maintains Certification renewal and Continuing Education requirements throughout career

Initial Certification applicants are individuals who have recently graduated from an AVMA accredited school and passed the VTNE. An "Initial Certification Following VTNE Testing” Application requires submission of:

A COPY of either your diploma or official AVMA school transcripts
Certification Fees
VTNE pass score

Transfer applicants are individuals who are currently credentialed in another state and are seeking certification in Colorado. Out of State Transfer applications require the submission of:

A COPY of either your diploma or official AVMA school transcripts*
Proof of current credentialing from the governing entity in the state from which you are transferring
A copy of your VTNE Pass score submitted to the CACVT directly from the AAVSB

*All individuals transferring into Colorado after July 1, 2012, must be graduates of an AVMA-accredited program in veterinary technology to qualify for certification.

Membership
Student Membership

Student Members are those individuals who are currently enrolled in an AVMA Accredited Veterinary Technology Program. Student Members are not credentialed veterinary technicians, but are eligible to receive CACVT membership benefits through graduation.

As a Student Member with CACVT you will receive all CACVT Membership Benefits, including:

Invitations and access to members only initiatives, services, education, and events
Discounts on CACVT and partner services, education, and events
Access within the highly engaged CACVT constituency and partner network

Associate Membership
