Colorado Academy of Veterinary Technology (CAVT) invites you to their Continual Education - Fall 2022 Sessions

Saturday, November 5; 1pm-5pm Mountain Time Via ZOOM.us – VIRTUAL

COURSE OUTLINE:

1:00pm-1:50pm: Recognize and Respond to Emergencies Ms. Cronin will cover triage from phone calls to presentations. We will discuss the readiness of the staff and the treatment area. We will discuss the three types of emergencies seen: true emergencies, emergent situations, and client-perceived emergencies. She will cover basic CPR and team CPR training. This session will finish with a discussion of CPR codes and the discussion of codes with owners.

2:00pm-2:50pm: Triage Foundations and Managing the Way too Busy Day We are drowning right now in veterinary medicine. We provide excellent care to an ever-growing population of pets, and we do it for a fraction of the cost of the same in human medical care. We have to be efficient and create synergies to enable our teams to provide gold standard care in a prompt fashion without burnout or client animosity. We will discuss multiple tips, tricks, and technology for smoother triage.

3:00pm-3:50pm: Team Utilization and Optimization No one has a huge team these days. We will discuss identifying how team utilization can financially impact your practice. We will discuss how whole team use can impact the mental well-being of the team, compassion fatigue, and overall team health. We will review how to create additional team use, how to work with those team members who are reluctant to use specific team members, and how to encourage team members to share the workload or allow new team members to do increasingly more complicated tasks. Finally, we will broadly discuss the legalities associated with utilizing team members to their full capacity.

4:00pm-4:50pm: Foundations of Emergency Care Good emergency technicians know the tips and tricks for accuracy in chaos. Don't be nervous! You don't have to be a VTS emergency technician to cultivate mad emergency skills! We will be covering prioritization, the essentials of recording information, and critical care thinking. These vital techniques need to become second nature, so they aren’t missed on any patient. We will discuss how to quarterback a team, where to turn team attention, and how to encourage both the turtles and the hares of every team to facilitate this success.
